Compare HEPA Filters H13 and H14: When Should You Use Which?

Many VAF customers are confused when choosing between the two most popular filter levels: HEPA H13 and HEPA H14. This article will help you understand the difference.

1. EN 1822 standard

According to European standard EN 1822, the difference lies in the filtration efficiency of most elusive particles (MPPS):

LevelOverall performance (Overall)Penetration
H13≥ 99.95%≤ 0.05%
H14≥ 99.995%≤ 0.005%

2. Practical application

  • Use H13 when: Regular industrial clean rooms, minor surgery rooms, clean hallways, high-class offices.
  • Use H14 when: Organ transplant operating room (requires absolute sterility), semiconductor chip factory (Class 1 - Class 100), pharmaceutical preparation room, biosafety level 3 room.

VAF recommends that customers measure actual dust concentrations and request expert advice to avoid wasting initial investment costs.
