Clean Room Standard ISO 14644-1: Things to Know

Summary of cleanliness levels ISO Class 1 to Class 9. How to design a clean room that meets standards?

Clean Room Standard ISO 14644-1: Things to Know

ISO 14644-1 is the most widely used international standard for classifying air cleanliness. In Vietnam, Pharmaceutical and Electronics factories all comply with this standard.

1. Common cleanliness levels

  • ISO Class 5 (equivalent to old Class 100): Extremely clean. Application: Organ transplant operating room, semiconductor wafer production. Requires ULPA or HEPA filter covering the ceiling.
  • ISO Class 7 (equivalent to old Class 10,000): Popular. Application: Common operating rooms, medical equipment production, functional foods.
  • ISO Class 8 (equivalent to old Class 100,000): Applications: Packaging areas, clean corridors, pharmaceutical packaging production.

2. What support does VAF provide you?

To achieve these levels, gas selection is key. VAF provides a complete set of solutions from Primary Filter (G4) -> Bag Filter (F8) -> HEPA Filter (H13) and FFU equipment to ensure the number of air exchanges (Air Changes Per Hour - ACH) meets the requirements of each ISO level.
